Turns out they were from different classes, the restaurant was higher end and severed only highest classes being nobels, llamas (priests), then surprising came nomads, then monks, the lowest of all class was the artisan someone who must own a property in order to make a living, such as a black smith, tailor, or butcher. What surprised me is one of most prestigious and respected positions in Tibetan culture are that of the Nomad, as not having to be tied down to one spot is highly desired. What I had observed between the restaurant owner and farmer was the difference between a noble and what used to be a serf. My stereotype of Tibetans was beginning to crumble, no longer where they entirely benevolent and friendly.
