“Hey man is Matt here yet?” Tyler asked as he walked through the door into the kitchen. His grasp locked firmly around a blue and white blockbuster DVD case.

“Nah.. No Matt, he said he would be here in 15 minutes and that was 20 minutes ago… What movie did you get big guy?” I asked.

Tyler looked straight at me and spoke slowly being sure to enunciate each syllable.

“The Big Lawbowski , Oh yea”

“Never seen it.” I replied.

“Awhaha... Hell yea… The dude, hey after we watch that we should go bowling haha” Ryan chirped in holding his beer can up from the couch.

It was late August, I had just moved in. The furnishings resembled an apartment that had only been lived in for three days. White walls all around, a couch a coffee table and a few chairs all huddled around a TV and a DVD player resting on green milk crate. The was nothing behind the couch for a few paces then you came to opposite wall, on that wall was the only poster we had up, a wonderful image of Jimi Hendrix doing what he did best. Tucked away in the corner was the front door, well the door to the stairs which led to the front door, we kept this door locked, as the front door was left unlocked so our friends didn't have to knock forever. Kitty corner to the door to the stairs was the door to my room, which at the time was full of card board boxes unopened since moving, with a bed and a dresser opposite to the door. Oh and there was a lamp, should I say my lamp, one I have had since I was a kid. Anyways enough rambling, so it was obvious we had just moved in, we being my roommate Tyler. As is custom after you move in you have your friends over to inspect your new accommodations as we followed the traditions we had invited over a few friends, Ryan and Alex who were lounging on the couch, and Matt who hadn't shown up yet. The plan was to drink a few beers, smoke a joint or two and enjoy a good movie.

“Hey pass me one of those,” Ryan tosses a white can with a blue label to Tyler as he moved to sit on the couch.

“Ya know Pabst is popular among Tibetans.” I said from across the room.

“I call bullshit on that, Lawrence ” Tyler exclaimed in between two long sips of beer.

“No really, I was in the smallest of small towns in backwoods Tibet , Dingri if I remember righ….”

Knock Knock Knock the door interrupted.

“Oh that must be Matt,” Tyler said as he hoped over the couch and moved towards the door. Tyler rotated the handle, the tumbler snapped into place and the door slowly swung open.
